On Wednesday, November 3, 2021, it was officially announced that Google is rolling out a new update to its search ranking algorithm that targets the spam side of search results. Google released November 2021 spam update and it should take about a week for the deployment to complete and get noticed in search results.

Google announced on Twitter:

“As part of our regular work to improve results, we’ve released a spam update to our systems. This November 2021 spam update should be fully rolled out within a week. We encourage sites to follow our best practices for Search.”

Google did not give too much information about the update but linked this with Google Webmaster Guidelines. Therefore, we are not sure if this update targets link spam, content spam, or other forms of search spam. Google is simply telling us to follow general webmaster guidelines.

Prior to that, the most recent confirmed Google update was from July 2021 and was called the Link Spam Update. Before that, we had June 2021 Core Algorithm Updates in two parts.

It’s been a year of updates. Google is determined to fight spam in search results and has released several algorithms updates this year to help.

If you see any major changes in the ranking or traffic of your organic Google search results, you may be affected by this spam update. Spam updates target specific policy violations. Google didn’t say if it was links, content, or any other form of spam, just that it was spam in general.

Why should we care about Google Updates?

Whenever Google changes its search ranking algorithms and performs a new update, that update can affect your site as well. These updates may improve or worsen your website in search results. To know when Google makes these updates, we need to keep an eye on the information provided by Google so that we can stay up to date and adapt our website to updates from Google. We know that Google will be launching a major ranking update sooner or later, so we will be checking our website rankings in the next few days.
